Last year a group of us on Vancouver Island decided to do a Altered Book Round Robin. We are the Altered Islanders, six artists, most of whom have never met, and scattered from Victoria to Ucluelet to Campbell River. We each selected our book, did some altering in it and then sent it out to the next person on the list. We chose all shape a sizes of books. Mine was a Hungarian Dictionary that I picked up for about $3. Most of the books had a theme. You can see a selection of the pages from our books here.

Suzanne Cannon's Altered Hungarian Dictionary

Artwork by Suzanne Cannon - niche cut to accomodate a paper clay head.

Charmaine Stack disguises the face of the paper clay head and highlights the word "disguise"!

"kulcs" is the Hungarian word for "key". Artwork by Gillian Gravenor

Meesh managed to slip this in very unobtrusively!

"Violet" artwork by Susan Horton

Susan Horton adds flaps and cuts windows.

"gomb" is the Hugarian word for button. Artwork by Corinne Pratz.

Meesh's "swirls" page

Gillian Gravenor's crow page

Corinne Pratz somehow cuts the window to reveal the word cat.
